Estate Dryer (by Whirlpool) Model #ETW4400WQ0 Dial sticks on rinse cycle

Estate Dryer (by Whirlpool) Model #ETW4400WQ0 Dial sticks on rinse cycle. It will fill fully with water but then the clothes just sit there in the full tub of water (no agitation or any other process runs at that time). We have to manually push in the dial, turn it to spin and pull the dial back out. It doesnt do it all the time but it does it frequently. Any ideas how to keep it from continuing to  stick? Thanks!

Will it advance through the time it's supposed to agitate and reach the final spin on its own ?

No. It goes all way until rinse and stops there. It fills but then stops when it fills.

To reduce confusion, this is a washer.

I've seen the lever/hinge that activates the lid switch get flaky on these and fail to keep the switch closed at random times. Give it a small tweak toward the switch.

If your washer always does this in the same spot on the timer, however, I would suspect that timer. Order it here and return it if it doesn't solve the problem.

Now my wife has informed me that it didnt want to start today. Turned the dial a couple of times and tried to pull it again. Still didnt work. Tried it again and now it works. Just about to tighten the hinge screws, now.
