GE model GTDX400ED5WS dryer wont start

Hello all! Went and bought a used almost new GE dryer. Hooked it all up and started it and it worked fine, heated up, spun, etc. Heard a noise and it was the drum hitting the top panel as it got bent in a little. I took off the top to see and bend out the metal top to stop the rubbing noise.  Put the top back on and now does nothing at all. Took back off to see if I popped a wire off the control board but all of them are on. The light inside of the dryer wont even come on now but did before I did the top. Anyone have any advice on what to check. The wife is on my ass about the dumb move I made. Please help me! I need to shut her up. Thanks much

Check the wires that go to the door switch.  Would cause the light not to work and the dryer not to start or run.

Good point, the wires to the door switch tend to short out where they penetrate the housing from the dryer frame to the front panel near the blower. they chafe against the metal frame and wears through the insulation.
