Hi, the belt has given way it has been making a noise for a while, is that common for belt failure or more likely the bearing?  Drum turns freely still.  The bigger question is I found a belt on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASKO-T700-T701-T712-T720-T741-T760-T780-T781-TD40-DRYER-BELT-8061961-8801490-/291999053424?hash=item43fc7ff670%3Ag%3A8HAAAOSwstxVKEqv  part number matches up with parts sheet.  The machines have had moderate use over its life, these units are about 16 years old? They sat idle for years so I would say they were used about half there life. Is it worth fixing?  The washer still works and if it is should I be putting in new rollers or bearings too?  i sure i can do the belt OH and the tensioner should that be done.......not sure i can handle the whole repair what do you think?

Go buy a $50 dollar used whirlpool top-lint dryer and never look back... Buy the matching direct drive washer too! 

Machines and cars are worse off sitting idle than if they are gently operated on a regular basis- Asko is not a brand i would choose for a restoration project amigo.

They have been running steady for many years I don't think that was the issue, and i do think these were Swedish not Solvenan made.  My problem is I need a compact set up and stacking 23".5 wide......what do you think about Bloomberg?  I have been doing some research, they are vented and seem to be well thought of?

I personally do not know ASKO products we do not get them here in Israel. For a dryer with a broken belt all you need is the number on the belt which is usually the circumference in millimeters. The name of the dryer you suggested is

"BLOMBERG". They used to be an excellent German company, but it seems that they have stopped

designing their own machines. Over the last few years all they do is travel around factories, find nice looking

appliances and ask the factory to put their name on the outside. They are not very good and have a lot of

problems with their electronic control boards. If you looking for an European type dryer, 60 cm wide I would

go for the the Bosch-group who produces "BOSCH" , "SIEMENS" or "CONSTRUCTA"
