This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Could bent hinges on dishwasher lead to leaking door seal?

One of the ropes (balance links) that attach the door to the spring broke.  The door on this dishwasher has always been tight, so when we open it, we actually throw the door down with some force.  Needless to say this was quite a surprise when the door slammed down on the hinge stops.  The door seemed to shut fine so I replaced the balance links and while I was at it, I replaced the door seal.  Now it leaks from the upper left hand corner of the door.  If I put a dollar bill between the door and the upper part of the cabinet with the door shut, you can easily pull the paper out.  The upper left and all of the top isn't sealing.

Has anyone here had this experience before and if so, are hinge replacements the answer?

Yes they can cause leaks at the door if it was dropped and they were bent, can try adjusting them but may be safer to replace them.
