If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Samsung NX58F5500SS Igniter issues?

Since we first got this ring we've been having issues with the front right burner. When trying to ignite the burner, it clicks anywhere from 5-20 seconds and then finally lights.  The longer it takes to ignite, the larger the flame.  I called Samsung and they said since its been doing it since we installed it, it wasn't calibrated properly and we need to have someone come out and look at it.  Any ideas?

Take a close look at the tiny holes ( gas orifices) nearest to the ignitor electrode... be sure there is no cleaning product or food residue clogging those holes, a sewing needle is usually the right size to poke them clean if they are gummed-up. Then. set the burner to "lite" and see where exactly the spark from the electrode is jumping to... if it isn't immediately visible in conjunction with the tapping sound, you might have a pinched wire, but I would start with those simple (and free) steps, then let us know what you see.

If you have a strong spark, clean orifices, but still no ready ignition- try experimenting with how fast you are turning the knob, some burners fare much better with a slow, deliberate turn.

Well i took a look at it and it seems to be acting a little weird.  It sparks perfectly every time.  Gas also comes out while it is sparking.  But it doesn't light.  If I turn it really slowly it lights maybe 60% of the time. Still not the best.
