Whirlpool duet ghw9100lw1 Door seal

Recommended Posts

I purchased a replacement seal part no wp8181850.

The old one (part no. 461970200231) has a hole at the top to connect a hose to the detergent box.   The new one does not have a hole on the bellow.

Is this:

the wrong part?

Am I suppose to make a hole myself?

am I supposed to disconnect the hose?

the box came with no instructions.

is this a "redesign" because of the mold issue?

your help would be greatly appreciated

Part number: WP8181850

Part number: WP8181850

this is the one you need, I'm not sure where you got your part number?

I've never had to make my own holes in a Whirlpool door boot. Samsung sometimes but not whirlpool.

That's the part number that I bought but the new boot does not have a hole in the top.

Yes it does it's a rectangular shaped cutout. I see it in the second picture of link I provided.

Watch the repair video in link.

The boot that I bought does not have a hole. It is part number WP8181850.

Either they put the wrong part in the box or new  ones don't have a hole anymore.   there was no instructions in the box to make your own hole.  I'm a bit hesitant to make my own hole because if it's the wrong size, it could leak and I've ruined a $150 part.

Brought it back to the supplier. They had another one, same part number, with a hole in it.   The bellow they gave me was either defective or mislabelled.

Thanks for the help
