Sub-Zero #642/0 Leaking

Morning,

Thought I'd seek advice on our Sub-Zero #642/0 leak problem.  The fridge/freezer is pretty old, and has developed some rust along the bottom of the cabinet on the fridge side. As a result, I believe the seal is not able to seal off the door due to voids along the cabinet frame where some of the metal has flaked off.  Not sure, but is there anything which can be done to again level the metal along the door frame to re-establish the seal?  I can replace the seal once the frame side rust is addressed.  Other than an ice-maker issue the fridge/freezer works great, even though it's older (not sure how old).

Again, help would be appreciated.

just treat it like any sheet metal rust repair, Sand down to bright, shiny metal, wire brush any big depressions to remove rust and use an auto body filler like bondo to fill in any gaps. If there really is big chunks of metal missing, have a sheet metal shop make up a repair panel for you. Cut out the damaged section and attach it with screws or anything you'd prefer. Sand flat, prime and paint. Seal any gaps with silicone caulk. All this is best done over a period of days with the fridge out of service.

AccApp,

Thanks much for your reply and advice.  I hadn't thought of using an auto body filler.  When there's an opportunity to take the fridge out of commission for a few days to do the work I'll give it a try.

Thanks again.
