All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Bosch B22CS30SNS/01 ice maker dispenses ice on its own

I own a Bosch side by side B22CS30SNS/01 that has started randomly dispensing ice cubes through door and only stops when you open the door.  Any suggestions on troubleshooting or what to do until it gets fixed?

i have already replaced 2 Control boards and also the control board for the compressor for other issues. This unit has been an electrical nightmare. Don't think I'll buy another Bosch

Thanks

I have a Bosch side by side with ice/water in door.  Randomly the ice dispenser starts shooting ice out all over floor.  Opening freezer door stops it but not sure what the cause is or how to troubleshoot.

First thing to do is get a good look at the components of the dispensary... if there is a leak from the water line, or condensation is affecting one of the connectors - you will have to get a look at it.

This model doesn't appear to have the old standard paddle/microswitch dispenser- in which case your symptom would sound like a intermittent shorting microswitch... so, I would be aiming my investigation at the parts that sense the cup, trigger the auger, and signal the "flap motor."

The light switch is working to interrupt the error dispenses, so we know that is part of the circuit...

00648040 is the display module part #

00647489 is the ice door assembly

I can attest that this unit is an electrical nightmare. And let me tell ya, I have access to the tech and service sheets and it's still a nightmare! A buddy has this identical unit and has had some issues over the years. I get to pretend to know what I'm doing on this thing. (It always friends and family that have the wierd ones. :P ) In fact, I too have replaced the two boards up top AND I have replaced the dispensor assembly or what Bosch calls "motor". His dispensor condition was opposite of yours- it was not activating anything when paddle was depressed.

could be wrong board in machine, could be factory mess up, still have old boards? compare board side by side see if anything looks different, one key thing is the relays on board, if they are missing or you have to many. Even updated boards do not have extra or missing relays. long shot but worth the look.

Just to clarify, when this fault happens, does the ice chute door opens and the ice auger run (just like if you call for ice intentionally)?

When did this start, how often does it happen, and how long does the fault continue unless interrupted (opening the FZ door)?

Looks like this unit uses a capacitive-touch pad to activate ice dispensing. If that's true, the "buttons" aren't conventional switches and don't require any mechanical force to activate, just a conductive object (a la finger) in close proximity.  Can you get the unit to dispense cubes, crushed or water by holding your finger close to, but not quite touching any of these "buttons"? Several manufacturers have run into issues with over-sensitive Q-Touch elements.

There's also a factory bulletin for a similar issue, "Unwanted Water Dispensing" which prescribes an add-on filter cap 10000577 to be added to the dispenser ground lead. If EM interference can cause phantom water pad function, it could do the same for the ice pad.
