Maytag dryer model PYE2300AYW

Babybear

Recommended Posts

I purchased a used maytag dryer, it worked great for the first day, then it would sound like a washing machine, running very fast then it will shut down and need to cool down, I am hoping this is the thermal fuse and not the motor but would like some advice before I go spending the money on the fuse, if it is the motor going to junk it not worth the 50 bucks that I paid for it. If it is the fuse that is a cheap enough fix

You have not mentioned that when it shut off , did it restart and shut off again after 10 to 15 minutes of rest time ??    if it does then it is most likely a bad motor and your motors internal thermal fuse is shutting the motor down and when it cools down it will run again.  Check and see if there is any resistance  somewhere in operation of the dryer drum turning. If there is drag somewhere in the turning process that can be causing the motor to over heat.   Bad bearings in a motor could cause this also and making a noise like you mentioned.  check to see if the blower wheel is secured to the motor shaft properly.

By the way that is a good dryer model you have there .  It's worth fixing as long as you replace any worn components in the cabine while you are in there.
