      All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological. 
      We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
      Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!

I need a new thermocouple for this 20+ year old furnace.  I can't seem to find the right part#, or a vendor to get it from.  Serial# on the unit is B10553L9B, if that helps narrow it down.  Any assistance would be MUCH appreciated...

I assume you can light the pilot but it won't stay lit? Who made the gas valve? Chances are it's a common brand and uses a 30 millivolt thermocouple. Take the old one out, measure for length and get a universal replacement.

I was just reading a blog about heating repair service Essex County NJ team, who is a professional contractor providing the service of all heating system's installation and maintenance. If you want you, can consult them to get the better advice regarding the furnace. They can help you in choosing the right thermostat for your old furnace. You can contact them if you feel comfortable with my advice or else can choose other options too.
