All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Elx Range Bake indicator light operation

Joe B, Stoughton Appliance Repair

Manufacturer: Frigidaire
Type of Appliance: Range
Model Number: FFGF3053LSF
Have you validated the model number at an online parts site like Repair Clinic? (yes or no): yup
Have you watched the video on how to search for manuals and have you searched the Downloads section prior to posting this request? (yes or no): yup

Thanks for the help.

Couldn't find these manuals on this site or the ELX service tips.

Customer complaint was gas oven no heat, customer had installed new igniter to no avail.

I arrived checked wiring and verified normal operation.

Customer called and said that while the oven appears to work, the "bake" indicator light is cycling on and off.  I explained normal gas oven operation, but couldn't confirm whether bake light stayed on. (I think it cycles with bake relay).

I'm looking for the tech sheet (316441736) & Owners Manual ((316901213) to prove normal operation.

(sigh)

Thanks,

Owners manual

Tech sheet is the same as for this Kenmore model

If they're talking about the actual bake function indicator, looks like that should stay on the entire time the bake function is active.

But if they're talking about the "oven" indicator, that turns on and off with the ignitor. See page 11 in the owner's manual.

Thanks Scott,

She kept saying "bake", but I'm pretty sure she meant "oven".

I'm pretty sure she was describing normal operation....even though she didn't remember it doing that before.  (It had been non-working for over a year)

That oven vs bake light is a subtle type of difference that only makes immediate functional sense to us.

I'd never think twice about what it was doing and only have a 50/50 chance of someone understanding that over the phone.

RTFM :)

Thanks!

Joe

Also...

how did I not find those pubs before posting?

I searched for both pub numbers as listed in my OP.

Do I need to use wild cards before?  After?  Both?

Thanks again for finding them.

I'll bet she's confusing the two lights. Just refer her to page 11 in the owner's manual... if even still has it. If not, you can send her the PDF.

The owners manual wasn't in the Downloads-- I added that for you.

The tech sheet was there, I just searched by PUB number. You may have inadvertently grabbed an extra space when you copied the PUB number and it got pasted into the search bar. The space counts as a character for search and will throw it off.
