French door bottom mount unit runs down to -20F in freezer even with the setting at warmest temp. Coil frosts up but bimetal and heater check out ok. I suspect board but wonder if the thermistor for freezer could be bad and not giving the board good readings. And frosted coil is simply due to unit not shutting off on temp. The  customer reports fresh food doesn’t lose temp so there must be some defrost action happening.

Sounds like your Main control (Jazz Board) has a stuck relay which is sending power to the compressor constantly. You can test this by attempting to force a defrost.

-20 is about the limit of how cold these can get with the compressor running 24/7. Let us know what you find

You nailed it. I had checked the thermistors after posting the question but before I got all this beatific apliantological wisdom. So I was mostly sure a board was in order. Now? Well I’m so certain of it I’m willing to bet case of Kirin Ichiban that the Jazz board will get me cooling the brews again in no time. APDepot has a “defrost kit” that comes with the board, some foam insulation, and a fan blade. Part # 12002754 $167.00 no core.
