      All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
      We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
      Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
      Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
      When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:

information about Kenmore portable clothes washer 110.44722401

Hello,

I'm newly signed up. I have been trying to find a technical manual, or at least the information for how to start the washer's diagnostic procedure, for a Kenmore portable clothes washer 110.44722401. Mainly, I'd like to be able to run the spin cycle manually. I've seen reference to this diagnostic procedure (by pressing a button combination upon startup) but have not seen a correct description of how this is done.

Is there a reason that Sears/Kenmore does not make the technical manuals available to users? Whenever I call them for info or the manual, they say they can only schedule a service visit, or sell me a service agreement, or they refer me to a site that does not have the info.

I've seen discussion about this technical manual on this forum page, but the link to the manual isn't shown it was sent privately:

Thanks!

I would like to have gotten a tech manual for this washer, but I see nothing here like a link to one, and there don't seem to be any private messages or notifications in my account.

There should be a manual inside the machine somewhere.  I don't remember where it is on that model for sure, but I bet if you tip the machine back and look underneath you will see it.

To put the machine in diagnostic mode;

1. Push Start/Off if necessary to make sure the machine is off.

2. Disconnect power

3. reconnect power, all LED's should blink twice

4. within 10 seconds press both Water Temp and Water Level buttons simultaneously.  The Water Level LED will stay on and no others should be on, if so you are in diagnostic mode.  If not go back to step 1

5. To exit diagnostic mode at any time press Start/Off

6. To cycle through diagnostic mode press Select Cycle.

The 4 Cycles are;

1.  Heavy Duty light is on - Cold water valve opens and fills to medium level, when done the Heavy Duty light flashes.

2. Normal light is on - Hot water valve opens and fills to high level, when complete the normal light flashes.

3. Perm Press light is on - Motor agitates for 15 minutes, when done Perm Press light flashes.

4. Hand Wash light is on - Pump activates for 20 seconds, then a 10 minutes spin cycle, when done the Hand Wash light flashes.

You can cycle through the modes at any time by pressing Select Cycle.
