All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom

GE Spacemaker microwave JVM1650WH01 door handle broken

Greetings most honorable masters,

The door handle of my microwave broke. I found this link to make the repair and ordered the replacement handle from RepairClinic. For the life of me, I can not figure out how to remove the door. The instructions below read, "Remove the 4 (2 on top & 2 on bottom) 5/16" head screws on door hinges and #2 phillips head screw on top. Door will pull away from unit with the hinges attached to the door." Can someone point me to the part #'s in the schematic for these screws? Many thanks!

I was able to remove the door just by lifting it off the hinges (D'oH!!). Now I just need to figure out how to gently pry away the choke cover...

Mission accomplished!

btw, there were no screws to remove other than the two sheet metal screws that hold the handle to the door (accessed after removing the choke cover). A flat blade screwdriver and a little patience is all it took to pry off the cover. Hope this helps someone with their future DIY repair.
