Roper RED4640YQ1 Dryer Never Stops

I have a Roper RED4640YQ1 Dryer.  It does not complete the drying cycle on either Automatic Dry or on Timed Dry.  On Automatic Dry the timer doesn't move at all, however in Timed Dry the timer will advance all the way down to the "cool down" section, but it never advances past this point, the heat doesn't shut off and the dryer will never stop until the door is opened.  What likely needs replaced to fix my dryer?  I know it's not the START button, I'm thinking it must be a sensor of some sort.

If you are getting heat...

Make sure you have good airflow, no clogged exhaust vents. 

Test cycling thermostat and high limit thermostats for continuity. 

If that all checks out it's likely your timer.

I haven't been home yet to run those tests, but one thing I forgot to mention is that the dryer has heat even when in the No Heat Air Fluff mode.  Just a little extra info before I forget.

Huge detail of Information!

You need likely a new heating element then. It's shorted. 

Can test with meter. Do you have one?

Unplug unit

pull wire connections off heating element put one probe on one of the heating element's spades (you just pulled wire connections off the spades) and one on heater housing, then do the same with the other spade. If either shows continuity it's shorted.

A shorted to ground element would also cause the timer to not advance on the auto cycle because this timer motor is a 220 volt motor and gets it second power leg thru the element when the cycling t-stat opens - Also could be the reason it stops advancing on timed setting once it reaches the cool down stage.
