All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom

Frigidaire ATF6700FS1 front loader buzz

Hi all, and Happy New Year.

Our front loading washing machine (per title) was operating normally today.  At one point in the wash cycle, my wife hit the pause button, to add an item.

The door unlocked and allowed her to do so, but since closing it, has made an unpleasant buzzing sound in all cycles.  My research so far is most consistent with a pump issue, but my hesitation with that diagnosis is

1- The sound is present during fill and spin actions.  I would think a pump issue to make noise when water is being pumped out only.

2- It wasn't there before the pause and add action, and appeared immediately afterwards.  I don't know what would cause that sound to start as a result of that, but the timing seems odd.

I'm hoping some forum members might have a guess what to look at.

It sounds like a door lock issue to me. Does the noise change when you apply pressure to the door at the lock area?

yes ,that sounds like a door lock issue. I have run into that buzzing issue a few times with the Frigidaire door locks.  Changing that lock should take care of the buzzing problem.

@AccApp Yes- applying pressure to the door at the lock changes it from BUZZZZZZZZ when not touched to buzzzzzzzz when pressed.  Pressing also induces PAU on the display, and the countdown timer resets.  If I let it do it's thing, it appears to launder clothes as expected, but unacceptably loud.

Is this a common failure scenario for a door lock- no build up, just suddenly buzzing out of the blue?

And when looking up the part, I see this "door lock/switch assembly"- is this the part you'd be replacing?  https://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Door-Switch/131763256/4547033?modelNumber=ATF6700FS1

Yes that is what you will be replacing . Make sure that the lock latch screwed onto the door itself is not broken either. Some times a piece of that will break off into the lock also.
