Kenmore gas dryer model 110.95866400 E1 error

Hello,

I am having trouble with a Kenmore gas dryer model 119.95866400. It has an error code E1 which is a thermistor error. I’ve changed thermistor and I am still getting a E1. It seems as though the heat is not shutting off and after a few minutes throws the E1 code. I figured it must be control board and I changed it today but I am still getting same E1 error. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Put on air dry (no heat option) see if it still heats. Let us know.

Oop gas unit. Forget that.

Yes. I’ve tested it with vent hose removed and on air fluff there is no heat and does not show any error code.

Thanks

With vent disconnected it does not error out?

If you verified thermistor is good , I’d test it from board. P2-5 and P2-6 if open you have a wire harness issue. Inspect wire harness closely.

If you have a clogged vent line it will throw this code as well. Disconnect dryer from vent line and run on hot. Should not throw the code, if it does not, clogged vent line or crap in the vent cap. Just did one of these last week. It will not throw the code when on air fluff and heater element is not energized, no heat...

Spoke to soon. While in use the dryer shut off in mid cycle. I put thermometer at rear vent and dryer isn’t cutting off until it reaches 195 degrees. It kicks back in around 135. I imagine that is why dryer is shutting off. Thermistor already changed twice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rick

Just to follow up on this. Issue was caused by using a gypsy brand thermistor. Used genuine thermistor and problem was solved.

Yes!!!

And people should disclose it in their original posts.

Another reason why I only use OEM. No not always the best but still greater chance of it being better than cheap knock off.
