All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

Kenmore washer 110.24862300 HELP!!!

BRAT

OUR WASHER STARTED MAKING MORE NOISE THAN USUAL WHEN AGITATING AND THE AGITATOR APPEARED TO TURN MAYBE 50% OF THE TIMES IT TRIED (LIKE IT WAS SLIPPING). NOBODY LISTENED TO MEAN WHEN I TOLD THEM TO TAKE IT EASY ON THE MACHINE UNTIL I HAD A CHANCE TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND AFTER ABOUT A  WEEK IT STOPPED AGITATING AND SPINNING ALL TOGETHER. I TOOK IT APART AND DISCOVERED THE MOTOR COUPLING BROKE AND THE AGITATOR DOGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SO I BOUGHT BOTH REPLACEMENTS AND INSTALLED THEM. HOWEVER THE MACHINE STILL ISN'T WORKING CORRECTLY. IT FILLS AND AGITATES JUST FINE. WHEN IT GETS TO WHERE IT SHOULD BE DRAINING AND SPINNING, IT DRAINS AND THE TUB SPINS BUT THE AGITATOR DOESN'T TURN IN  ROTATION ALONG WITH THE BASKET. INSTEAD IT TURNS AS IF IT'S AGITATING AND THERE'S A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. I'VE TRIED SEARCHING THE INTERNET BUT AFTER THREE STRAIGHT DAYS OF WORKING ON IT I'M STILL AT A LOSS FOR A SOLUTION. I LITERALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING WRONG OR WHERE TO GO FROM HERE. I'D APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE SOMEONE COULD OFFER. THANK YOU.

Your transmission is bad

Agreed , sorry ?.     BUT you really need to fix it or hire it fixed .  That washer fixed is better than 99% of the new ones you could buy !

If the lid isn't rusty it's definitely worth fixing. We love that machine.

I would still put a new lid on and keep it going.

I tell people that have one of these to keep putting money into it as long as parts are available.

  • 2 weeks later...

Its specifically a plastic ramp gear in the tranny that wont shift it all the way our of agitation and it grinds another metal gear. If the gear is ok then you can just replace the ramp.  But.... those parts and labor if your not handy, will cost you as much as a tranny whole.
