LG Washer WM0642HW Walking

CDS

Recommended Posts

Hello.

We have a LG front loading machine that is moving around during the spin cycle.  Bearings and spider appear to be in good shape.  Is the next thing to check/replace the shocks?

Thanks.

A few questions...some of which may seem odd...

Is the washer on a wood floor?

Has the washer been relocated recently...moved into new home...or...you've moved into a new home and the washer came with sale of the home?

Any error message displayed?

No error message, it just moves askew.

With an empty tub...

Power on

*do not select a cycle*

Select highest Spin Speed

Press Start

When control panel displays 7 minutes remaining...does the washer tub shake excessively (even though empty)?

If yes...failed Inner Tub (cracked/bent).

If not then suspension shockies

It's a small possibility.

These washers pre-date the True Balance feature...now in use.

WM0642 models are roughly 10 years old.

It would be far more likely that the tub support/trunnion has a crack or is disintegrating...causing severe imbalance during the high speed spin cycle.

Another clue would be...burning rubber odor and door gasket "fuzz" (fine rubber specks) on the gasket and/or clothing.

I tried the method listed above.  I took a video of it, but I can't figure out how to upload it.  I didn't notice any terrible vibration at the 7 minute mark.

You can try installing rubber pads...made by LG (4620ER4002B).

Designed for smooth floor surfaces...to stop the washer from sliding.

Order 2...install on front leveling legs.
