This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Carrier Central Air Conditioner Model 38CKC030-301

Haven't posted for some years so hope I'm asking for help in the right forum.  I did an old  Maytag washer stem and seal replace with Appliantology's help  some years ago.  My carrier central AC 38CKC030-301 compressor isn't engaging.  When it's working I can hear the gas running through the copper tube to the drying filter to my condenser in the plenum.  Not a sound now and outside only the cooling fan is running.  Don't hear the compressor running at all.  I'm told  I can check some small parts like a relay for capacitor.   Can anyone confirm this or refer me to a manual for troubleshooting?

Thanks so much,

Frank

The contactor turns the compressor on. Get a cap tester, they're cheap.

Next step would be to ohm out the compressor and check wiring at compressor

to make sure the terminals are sound.

MrappliancesChandler,

Fortunately I'm one of those guys who has some basic electrical testing tools but didn't need one.  Found one connection shorted on the DP contactor.  I tried to order through Repair Clinic but those guys were out of stock for two weeks.  So.  Found a local supplier who had one.  I replaced the motor run capacitor too since the OHM readings across common to fan or herm side were strange.  Reading goes up but not down like it should according to what I've been told.

Anyway.  Thanks for the input.  I'll always get the help I need from you guys.
