This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Maytag law9406aae won't Spin

I am trying to fix my mother's washer, Maytag law9406aae.  It started having an issue where it won't go through the high spin.  I can rotate "Counter Clockwise (Forgive me, I don't remember which is which)" and the agitation works without a hitch.  When I rotate it "Clockwise", it goes about a 1/8 to 1/4 turn and then locks tight, I cannot turn any farther.  The motor turns the belts as much as it can and smells of something fierce when left alone.  I have not taken the drum apart to see if anything is lodged, but if I can make 2 full revolutions for the agitation, I'm not sure if I need to, or look somewhere else.  Some advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Pull the front cover and inspect the base and transmission and belts if your able too . You may find something jamming up the drive train or something visually out of place and worn .  Just an alternative procedure.
