If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Tried kdTe204ess,  6-4 is float switch.

(most common)

 float switch stuck

bad switch

control misinterpreting the switch

bad wireing between switch and control

(least common)

generally wont fill if float is bad.

error codes can interfere with operation and should be cleared.  Did you clear codes after replacing switch?

are any replacement parts used?

NEXT:

unplug

verify switch operation with meter.

verify good wireing with meter

reset control.

If issue persist then new control is in order ( may have gotten a bad one, especially if used board)

the float switch shows zero when hooked to a meter (for both depressing/not depressing  the button on the switch) . i would expect to see some resistance,  correct?

When I disconnect the switch entirely, the motor comes on (or course there is no water in it..)

is it possible to bypass/disable the float switch?

From what your saying now if I am understanding you correctly, is that the new float switch you replaced is bad since your getting a zero Reading.  It’s highly unlikely the new float switch is bad but anything is capable !  You have replaced everything but the interface and drain pump it sounds like. I would stop throwing parts at this machine. A lot can happen between your original state of the issue to going through and replacing all these parts.  I couldn’t tell you where to start at this point. Do you have a membership here ??  If not I highly suggest you get one and get some basic trouble shooting techniques  and procedures. It’s really worth your while and is a treasure trove of knowledge for your particular situation. You have gone into a parts changing frenzy here and stuff like that can compound your problem. Good luck and I hope you can nail the issue . Point of information :  if you still have the original control board try putting that back in and see what error codes the old board had stored .  Unless that 6-4 error came from the old board originally and not the new board.  I wish you Good luck either way

If you testeed witch correctly like has been said its bad.

search youtube for vidioes on how to perform continuity test.  Once you know your testing it right. Then perform a repair.

Also like has been said dont replace parts unill you have verified they are bad somehow.

I would put ALL original parts back in and go from there.

Test for power at components like motors. If no power = not bad
