All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

kenmore dryer 592-89427 won't start tumbling

When the start button is pushed, the dryer makes a "buzzing" sound but it doesn't start spinning.

If you open the door,  manually spin the drum and then  try again, the dryer will start.  Sometimes it may take several tries but it does eventually start.

After it starts, it doesn't seem to have any problem starting and stopping during the wrinkle release period at the end of the cycle.

Thanks for the response.

Im having problems finding the part number for a replacement motor.  Its a Samsung dryer made for kenmore but since Sears is no more , I cant seem to find the correct Samsung replacement part number.

Hi Goku, have you opened this up yet?  If it is all linty inside, the centrifugal switch in the motor may not be closing right all the time.  If you cant a new  motor, or if you want to find out for sure, open it up and de-lint it, remove the motor.  Clean the bejeebers out of the centrifugal switch if you can.   Or call Repair Clinic at 877 803 7957 with your model and serial and they can probably help you get a motor?

Are you in Canada? Samsung made Kenmore usually starts with 401 or 402, you can try that instead of the 592 or in front of it.  Also most Samsung dryers use the same motor so u can try using a Samsung model number

My best bet would be to look up motor for this model, dv219aew/xaa, I give it about 80% chance being correct part

I just had a similar Kenmore model 592.69212 from 2014, this one had the control panel console on the top in the back, not in the front, closely matches Samsung DV48J7770GP. Just wanted to add this info here for future reference, as I had trouble matching it also. The DV219 has a console in the front.
