Kitchen Aid Refer KSCS25INSS00 - Cond Fan Not running

Recommended Posts

I am troubleshooting a side by side, model in Title. The evaporator fan was shot, so I replaced that & it is working and cooling. However, I noticed that the metal cabinet between the doors seemed excessively hot. Like so hot I did not want to let the refer run alone. I checked the condensor fan and it appears never to turn on, even when compressor is running. So compressor is very warm after just 10 minutes of running. I pulled the fan and gave it 120VAC direct and it works fine. Just now power from the fridge apparently. All coils are clean. What drives the condensor fan, is there a thermo-switch or supply from the board. What can I do to further troubleshoot? Is the fan supposed to be on when the compressor is running? Because it isn't.

Thanks,

I need to add that after I turn on the refer, the divider between the doors gets very warm in just a few minutes. I am applying an external fan and that seems to help. Also, upon startup the evaporator fan is not on, but is kinda like twitching , after some point of cool down it kicks on just fine.

YEs I did - I think since the evap fan is twitching and the cond fan no power, that I am going to have the MOBO rebuilt for $99.00 - I don't like the idea of hot wiring the cond fan to run 24/7.

Thanks for advice.

Great video on the KSCS25INSS00. The Samurai Fix was superb. So much for my condenser fan issue w/ the NLA control voltage. That solved the hot Yoder loop problem. My evap fan is twitching so I checked low volt ( about 11vdc) from supply and resistance on the motor shows about 1.7Kohm WH-RD and 4.5Mohm other ways. Reckon I'm in the market for an evap fan unless you can offer any other sage advice. Thanks for the great site. I'll budget for the Samurai "Beer,Wine,Shine" fund this next week. Happy Holidays to all.

Thanks again from the ranch,

Tom
