gas oven won't heat

First of all I apologize for coming back to the well with this same problem, but buying a new oven would just be tough right now.  Nine-year-old Kitchenaid gas oven KGSS907SSS00 won't heat.  I get no flame from the baking burner but the cooktop burners work just fine.  Right away I suspect the igniter but then I notice that the broiler burner will not light either.  Is this meaningful? Doesn't seem like both igniters could be bad, especially since we never use the broiler. Does it mean I have a faulty gas valve or control board?  BTW this model has the electric heating element in the top surrounding the broiler.  That works.

THANKS for your help and patience.

It’s possible they stopped working at different times, but yes it could be a control board problem or safety valve as well. First step is to check for voltage at the igniter

This is a live test he’s talking about. With a voltage meter connect each lead to each ignitor lead from ignitor (at connector)

turn oven on to bake and see if 120VAC is present on one side of ignitor.

If 0 likely bad board, if 120 likely bad ignitor.

Ive see bad bake and broil ignitors often.

Especially if customer uses self clean.

When I unscrew the igniter from inside the oven and pull it forward I see only one insert tab connection at the end of an articulated ceramic tube, not a harness or two wires. How do I check continuity?

This is a DSI,(Direct Spark Ignition), model range - If you don't ever get any flame then most likely not an ignitor problem.

Good chance it is the gas safety valve - if either the bake or broil coil in the valve is open neither will work.

Do you hear it click a couple times then it stops clicking and you get no flame?   Try BAKE and BROIL and see if you get 2 or 3 sparks from  the ignitor tip then it stops - if this is what is happening then most likely the gas valve.

Part number: WP9763716

Part number: WP9763716

Using a multimeter you can check the ohms of the coils from the center to top and  center to bottom - if you get open reading on either then you know for sure this is your problem.

A good reading should be around 215 ohms for both.

There is an oven shutoff lever on the gas safety valve - make sure the  lever didn't somehow get flipped to the OFF position, (ON position is as shown in the above picture).

thanks for posting this BAR.  Naturally my gas control valve is a PITA to fool with, as is everything else on this Kitchen Aid.
