All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom

Whirlpool Range GGG388LX Broken Glass Door

Recommended Posts

Hi, The front door outer glass was broken on my Whirlpool double oven gas range.  Everything else is intact including inside glass.  I have looked on all the parts websites and even contacted Whirlpool direct.  They say it's discontinued with no replacement available.

I can't believe I'd have to buy a whole new range because of this. They cost over $1,000.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

If you would like help you really need to help us by giving the full info.

You have only given a partial model number - there are 18 different models that start with GGG388LX

There are 3 more digits to the model number that is the color code and revision.

Also there are two ovens/doors which is it the top small or bottom large?

You could substitute a different color front if didn't mind the look - three different color versions, (Black, Stainless and White)
I did a quick search on three different models, lower large oven door front and found one is readily available but very expensive ($350-$425).

W10346113 Assembly, Door Glass, Black (plenty avail. $350-$425)

The last 3 digits are Q01.  It's the white one that was discontinued.  I considered the black glass but figured if I'm spending thar much, might as well invest in a new stove.  The white glass was a lot cheaper for some reason.

@Jenn8

Yea, I've been doing appliance repair for 34 years now and find the pricing absolutely crazy!!!!!

Same exact part in your case except for color and it's 3 times more

Order a Left side or Right side part like an oven door hinge, one is $15 the other $6, makes no sense what so ever!!!!

Normal listed retail for the Black glass is $392-$450 found a place where you can get it for $260 + Shipping, (only about $100-$130 more then the white if you could still get it).
