All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

KitchenAid Standmixer Model KSM90

Recommended Posts

I have a kitchenAid stand mixer model ksm90.  Although the speed control does increase when the lever is increased, the slowest speed is too fast.  At the slowest speed it will fling flour out of the mixing bowl.  Any suggestions what needs replaced or fixed would be great.  Also, if a part is required where can it be purchased?

Thanks

There should be a 2 part plastic cover that clips to the top of the bowl that prevents your dry ingredients from being cast from the bowl until they are incorporated. This is a tilt head model. My wife has the model where the head raises and lowers via crank assembly and even on the lowest speed will cast out dry ingredients without the cover. https://producthelp.kitchenaid.com/Countertop_Appliances/Stand_Mixers/Stand_Mixer_Tips_and_Tricks/Which_Pouring_Shield_Fits_My_Mixer%3F

The lowest speed should be slow enough to not fling stuff around.

You need a new speed control, but I don't know who sells parts.

Part are available from Partselect or Ereplacementparts. Youtube has several videos on this mixer.
