GE Dehumidifier

2 posts in this topic

My father brought me a GE AHG40LFM1dehumidifier, the other day...says the compressor runs, but the air circulating fan no longer turns on. I pulled the beast apart and the cicuit board seems to check out.

The small motor is a two speed, single motor assembly, mtr040h / dha 115v 60hz - 1380 - 1280rpm, part #4681A20040H or GE wk94x10007. Volt meter shows voltage (118 v) on both of the hi/ low pins appropriately when the switch is activated and toggled between hi and low on the board .

I have observed the compressor starting as he described. I have closed the tank in-place / removed switch and observed that it is working as well (taped it closed for testing). I'm thinking that the little electric motor has gone bad, as I find no reason for the fan not to run. I guess I am asking if I have missed anything. Are there any other reasons for this fan not to run that I have missed? Any help is appreciated, thxs in advance, Mark

Try giving the fan  a little nudge when you start it. If it tries to run, you probably have a bad motor.
