All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, March 30 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.

Not sure about how to use the testo gauge. For this just leave it out.

I tried with the testo inline.YN9uGp2.jpg

Ran the pump for maybe 25 min down to 700 micron, capped  off both ends at the manifold and it jumped too 1200 then went down some and now it's steadily going up 10 every 45 seconds.

Most likely it's that female to female adaptor or the guage itself since I bought it used - like new from Amazon. It says warehouse inspected but I know I can't trust that. Going to go with just the manifold connected like you recommended and run it for an hour.

Think there is some grease you can get that helps seal the joints. Have you leaked checked your setup by itself?

Have to check the specs for your gauge, some it's ok some it's not. If your checking your setup just pull a vacuum.

I ended up filling the system to the correct weight and after putting the cores back i moved the service out of the way so I could put the back cover on and would you fucking believe it I could feel the adhesive in the lokring give out and the whole thing turned freely. I'm sorry but mother fucking son of a bitch!

Ugh, I was able to quickly recover the refrigerant (thank god I had a recovery machine on hand). I think I can easily twist the lokring off now and I have a couple of service valves on hand right now. Which brazing rod do I use to braze the two together? 15 or 45? Only asking because I think you told me before that they sometimes they put a special copper coating at first.

The stub is copper clad steel so you can use 15.  Usually work in homes, so it's fudge shoot and darn !!

Got it done and filled it up! Left it overnight to cool and now I can put some brewskis in.

I honestly can't thank you enough for sticking around and helping me through the whole process. I think I have learned a hell of a lot from this.

Glad you finally finished and get to enjoy the refrigerator. This will make a straight compressor change out seem like a walk in the park.
