110.20722990 Kenmore washer spins-and-stops endlessly, replaced several parts with no luck

The problem is the washer spins and halts, spins and halts, endlessly on most dial settings, regardless whether the lid is open or the dial is pulled. The only way to stop it is to unplug the machine. (It will fill with water on the CLEAN setting.)

Here's a video I took of the problem.

What I've done so far, all with no effect:

• Replaced the timer.
• Replaced the motor and motor switch.
• Replaced the entire wire harness.
• Replaced the lid switch.
• Tested the pressure switch (all good).
• Tested the capacitor (all good).
• Double-checked that the power outlet works and no fuses are blown.

I'm suspicious that it's the transmission. Reasons:

1. I noticed there's oil leaking on the floor. It seems to be coming from the transmission.
2. The original transmission died 6 months ago. I replaced it with a used one on eBay.
3. Process of elimination -- I've replaced nearly everything else; what else could it be?

Do you think the transmission is the culprit? Is there any other part I should check first?

Did you replace the timer with a brand new one ?  If so check on the washer cycle selector switch,  I don’t believe the transmission could have anything to do with that.

Sounds to me if it spin  then just abruptly stops, I wonder if the brake is bad. If it is not spinning up to max speed, you might have clutch problems, but def if that trans is leaky, thats not good

According to the timing chart for the washer to spin you need the contacts below.  As soon as it finishes the fill timer switches the washer into  agitate mode.  The sudden stop could be the the motor trying to reversed the direction in agitate mode but, a contact is stuck in the spin mode 

cam2 - sw t2 (bypass) (gy wire)

cam 4 sw t20 (spin motor) ( o-bu)

cam 8 sw t 14 (spin) (BU)

cam 10 sw B6 (med/low motor) (or)

cam 12 sw B 12 (rinse) (y-r)

I would check for welded contacts at the timer

Would you post a picture of the speed selector? It goes by in your videos and can only read the word heavy. That switch may have a gentle setting.  It should be a 3 speed motor with high, medium and low. The gentle cycle is just low speed pulsed on and off.  If it does have gentle speed setting i would agree with @WOOKIE you have stuck contact somewhere. Most likely the timer, but could be speed switch.

The basket jerking when spin stops is just the brake grabbing. 2 ways to fix - 1 is to remove basket drive and clean the brake drum and brake lining with emery cloth. 2 is to use spray parts cleaner to clean same area, but you don't disassemble.  Method 1  works better long term, 2 is easy and doesn't last as long.

Update for any future readers:

Good call to everyone who suggested the speed selector switch. Replacing it solved the problem. Got a used one for $9 on eBay.
