All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

Help! I need a tech to fix my appliances!

(Sorry if this isn't the right forum; I'm not sure what is the right forum.)

I am not professional appliance repair tech. (I'm a computer repair tech; alas, the skills are not interchangeable!)

I've reached the point where I'm ready to give up and pay a pro.

I promise I won't lean over your shoulder or try to tell you how to do your job.  I just want to give you my money and get my stuff fixed!

Location: Oak Park, Michigan (Oakland County, near Royal Oak and Southfield)

Appliances needing repair:

  • Dishwasher #1: Tappan model #61 1144, serial #66 113499
The door "falls" open.  I tried replacing the springs, but the fix only lasted for about a month, so either I did it wrong, or something else is going on.
  • Dishwasher #2: Whirlpool model DU920QWDQ3, serial #FF2132966
Makes a sound like something trapped in the impeller. I tried removing the impeller, but couldn't get it off.  (I got the ¼-inch nut loose, but no matter how many times I turned it while holding the impeller, the screw never completely unscrews.  The impeller seems loose, but I just can't free it.)

Does anyone here service appliance in my area?

The Find a Local Tech forum is the right fit for this post, so I've moved it there.
