Ever seen a burned out element like this? Kenmore 790.46893903

Just pulled a bad bake element out of a Kenmore electric oven 790.46893903. I have never seen anything as bad as this. The element cover (below the element in this model) had burn marks and a whole burned through. Do you think the element failed partially, drooped down and touched the cover while still partially energized until it failed completely?

(Having trouble uploading pix.) Will do ASAP.

I can't see your pics yet, but I had a weird one today.

I had an Electrolux wall oven today where the bake element looked like a bulged snake all coiled up and distorted with no discernible burn outs.

I'll upload pics after I go back to replace it.

Oh, and thanks Electrolux for not leaving a couple extra inches of wire so I could replace it from the front.

Getting a second guy and totally removing the oven to do it is so much more efficient. 😉

Nice one!  Don't often see an element that bad.  Saw a couple like that a few years ago in Maytag ranges and both had damaged the ERC.
