All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

Kitchenaid KGRS505Xss02 oven issues

My two - oven KitchenAid (15yrs old)  gas broiler lites then goes out, and neither oven heats.  bottom ignitor does not heat as far as  I can tell.   Just happened two days ago.  has worked fine for many years.   I've replaced a couple of the stovetop burners/valves so am somewhat familiar with the unit.  One of your other discussions describes gas valve tests, and control board tests.  Is this where I should start, the other discussion was a Kitchenaid KGSS907sss01, so would the testing procedure be similar.    Thanks.  John O

Ignitors are likely suspects. We check amp draw to be within specification. Typically above 3.0 amps will open valve anything less and you have a failing ignitor.

If no amp draw then test same circuit for 120VAC. If present bad ignitor if not bad board.

I have taken apart the back of the stove and the  main gas safety valve splits off to a sub valve assembly from which come the two gas lines, and respective wiring to the ignitors.    Also a rigid pipe that serves the bottom oven.  The left hand set of wires shows +-210 Ohms, (the ignitor to the top oven)  and the right side set show 0.    You spoke of amp test on the ignitors, just test the wires for amps?  I can send a pic, but I need to reduce the file size.   it is presently 5MB  will send later.  thx

I usually access ignitors from inside oven. Yep clamp amp meter to an ignitor wire. Turn to bake and watch amp draw. If it does not go above 3.0 amps it’s a weak ignitor.
