All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, March 30 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:

Hello, I'm new to this site. Trying to learn how to use it effectively. Not sure if starting a new topic is how to ask a question? Wanted to ask a staff member, but seems all questions are public? Is there additional information about acquiring tech sheets after the video? I hope the answers aren't already availible somewhere.

Q-Am I to assume that all responses to my tech sheet search are valid, even from a long list of results? Even when the result is from a different manufacturer and only a couple numbers match? I have no experience with this.

Q-After requesting a tech sheet, how do I know when or where it's posted? Do I just keep doing new searches?

Sorry, I feel like I'm probably asking really dumb questions, didn't want to ask publicly. but just so frustrated that the public humiliation doesn't matter anymore. I have to learn if its a viable source or not.

Hey rodmelton,

Welcome aboard! Those aren't stupid questions at all, and this is the place to ask them. Sounds like you've already checked out our FAQ page, but in case you haven't, it's got a lot of good stuff to answer questions like yours.

But to answer your questions directly:

This depends on how far back you trim the model number using the * wildcard character. If you trim back just a few characters, then the results will probably be pretty relevant to your search. But if you've trimmed off most of the model number, then the results are likely to include some things that aren't relevant to your machine.

If you're ever unsure if something applies, feel free to ask by posting a new topic in the Manual Requests forum.

We always post a reply to your request topic with a link to the manual. So you'll have that information right in the topic you started. Make sure your notification settings are set to notify you when someone replies to one of your topics.
