All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Kenmore wall mounted gas oven

790.30179400

My problem today is that I am in need of the touchpad itself. I have found the Range Control Panel that replaces the whole front face panel that includes the touchpad controls. The cost that this entails is not acceptable.

Is their another way to repair the button pressed to increase the temperature? All other buttons work with no problems.

So either repairing this button itself or replacing the touchpad.

Are there any options out there were this touchpad can be swapped for an all new touch panel that provides the same functionality but at a reasonable expense?

I do possess some soldering skills and handy with a dremel tool.

Thank You for your time and any help that others may provide.

H

I have replaced the control board on this oven three times now and the temp probe twice. Having repeated expenses on this unit has come to be expected but the prices ranging from over $600 to $1200 for the whole control button assembly is just ridiculous.

thanks again for your time

$800 to $1,200 for a touchpad is criminal!  Check out these touchpad repair services that fix them for $120:

applianceboardrepair.com

Or search Google for some other variation of "appliance touchpad repair service".  Let me know how it works out for you.

Of course, clean the contacts on the ribbon first!

You could also add in a miniature momentary contact button.  You might not even have to solder it, see if there is a way to attach it into where the ribbon goes.
