All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it.
I'll be posting a couple more tech sheets before Saturday so be sure to follow this event to keep up with the tech sheets we'll be going through.
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:

GE gtwn4250d1ws top-load washer lid switch not working (but switch is fine)

Hey, gang! A couple weeks ago my GE top-load washer (gtwn4250d1ws) started malfunctioning where it thought the lid was open regardless of position (so wouldn't agitate, etc.). Tested the continuity on the switch itself, found it was broken, so I ordered a new one and replaced it. It worked fine and then the problem came back this morning. I tested the new switch for continuity again and it's fine, but the washer still thinks the lid is open. So, now I'm stumped. What should I test next to determine the problem here?

Thanks in advance!

Update, in case it's useful: I went into Field Test mode and there were no error codes, even for the lid switch. Is there any way changing the lid switch could have messed up the control board? I would prefer not to replace that since it's like 200 bucks. Haha!

I’ve never seen one with no codes before and I have serviced my share.

Sounds to me like you’ve lost serial communications. Which mean either bad motor or bad board.  You’ll likely need a technician with access to GE training tips to do properly testing and diagnosis to determine which.

Thank you, @16345Ed! I priced out both the motor and the board, and between one or both of those plus the service fee to check it out I decided it wasn't worth it and just got a new washer. I tried to convince my wife to get a Speed Queen, but it was too pricey. Maybe next time! haha
