[Webinar] Appliantology Live Dojo

Son of Samurai
Tech Training

All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in the conversation for all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!

This event is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.

If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here in the calendar entry. We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form

Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Who: This webinar is only available to tech members at Appliantology.

When: Sunday October 30 @4:00 PM Eastern Time.

Where: Online via Zoom

How:

  1. Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now -- we'll gauge whether or not to hold the webinar based on interest.
  2. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working.
  3. Click the “Set Reminder” button on this page to set a reminder for yourself for this webinar so you don’t miss it.
  4. If you can, turn on your webcam and mic so we can chat as if we were in the same room!

Any technical topics you'd like to discuss, post here and post early! Just need a model number and a schematic (preferably PDF) so I can screen share it.

One topic I’d like to discuss is practical refrigeration thermodynamics: superheat, subcooling, saturation. Then let’s apply our amazing new knowledge to a problem when a running refrigerator is unplugged, let sit for a few minutes then tap in and check both low side and high side pressures. What state (vapor, liquid, vapor/liquid mix) is the refrigerant in the suction line at 30 psig? (Hint: this is a deliberately misleading question.)

We can talk about that. Your homework in preparation is to watch the 5-part refrigeration thermodynamics webinar series:

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

We'll start with a pop quiz from the series. Be prepared to make me proud! :samurai: :rocker:

I think we're going to pretty full just talking about refrigeration. But here's a video of me troubleshooting one of these dryers and testing the fuse without pulling the dryer out:
