Dishwasher user interface may not respond to a button press and may not be illuminated.
Before becoming unresponsive, the dishwasher may have come on by itself or beeped at
random times. At times, the dishwasher may turn back on after the power is cycled a couple of
times. The dishwasher may enter a wash cycle, the timer will count down, but nothing will run.
Dishwasher may try to start a cycle but will act as if the door is open (start LED will flash and
the control will beep every 4 seconds). Run time may start to count down and then change
back to a higher time although the dishwasher is not running.

Hey everyone, thought I would share a strange thing I stumbled on. This is for the common GE dishwasher main board part number WD21X24901(C) in this service bulletin.

This is the board that has the power cycling issues, often times when I get to one of these calls the unit will not turn on at all or enter service mode/reset csm even after you unplug it several times. The GE service HQ computer will not connect to it either. The service bulletins say you simply replace the board at this point.

About a month ago, after giving up trying to reset one of these I accidentally plugged the unit one back into the wall with the user interface Molex disconnected(it’s right next to the service port), I noticed after a minute and reconnected it. The board started right up and was able to connect to the service HQ and excepted the firmware update that fixed the problem.

As of today I have now done this five times and was successful each time. If I can’t get the board to react at all I unplug the user interface, plug the unit back into the wall, wait about one minute and plug the user interface back in.

So if all else fails try this before replacing the board.

Thank you for this.  I have many frustrating times with this GE dishwasher model so I'll consider this next time.
