Samurai Appliance Repair Man
Grand Master of Appliantology
Scott M. Brown, PE
Since 1996, I have been active in the major home appliance repair industry, both as an in-home appliance repair technician running my own service business, but also online as my well-known appliance tech alter-ego, Samurai Appliance Repair Man.
I help other professional appliance technicians up their game at our tech support community here at Appliantology.org and at my tech training site, MasterSamuraiTech.com.
At Master Samurai Tech, I offer structured, self-paced, online training courses for both rookie and experienced appliance techs where you can learn all the lost but essential technical skills of the appliance repair profession: electric circuits, reading schematics, troubleshooting with schematics, gas systems, technology of appliance components, motors, variable frequency drive systems, and refrigeration.
Past Experience
Before I got into appliance repair, I designed and oversaw construction of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems as a refrigeration design engineer. I also served as an environmental engineer overseeing compliance at various American and Canadian manufacturing facilities as well as designing remediation for various Midwest-based Superfund hazardous waste sites. I also served as a process engineer in developing and improving the tire production process and as an avionics technician in the U.S. Navy repairing navigational radar equipment. In short, I know tech. And well.
Home and Family
I moved to New London, New Hampshire, in 1994 with my wife, Susan, and our one-year-old daughter, Ivey. Our two sons, Stephen and Sam, were both born here. In addition to helping me administer Appliantology, Sam is my service call partner and a certified Master Samurai Tech.

Mrs. Samurai
I’m Susan C. Brown, aka Mrs. Samurai, the editor of the Master Samurai Tech Academy and a major contributor to the Business Course. I also help with the administration of the Academy, communications, and assistance at the Student Forums.
I have worked alongside the Samurai every step of the way in building all of his appliance repair businesses since 1996, including being the customer service rep and bookkeeper for our local service business, and the editor and occasional contributor to Appliantology. I also homeschooled our 3 children during this time, giving me an appreciation for good educational materials which helped to inspire us to create the Academy.
Before all of that, I worked as an Environmental Engineer for a consulting firm in both Chicago and Minneapolis.

Son of Samurai
Hey there! My name is Sam Brown, and yes, as my username suggests, I am indeed the son of the Samurai. Having been schooled in the appliantological arts since I was a wee babe, I've been helping Scott out with just about every side of our business for most of my life.
I have been through every training course at the Master Samurai Tech Academy, and I am a certified technician. I accompany the Samurai on the service calls we make for our local repair business, as well as manage and maintain the inner workings of all our websites. Whether you're here at Appliantology or over at MasterSamuraiTech.com, much of the appearance and structure of those sites is thanks to the work of yours truly.
