GE Wine Chiller
model: ZDW24ARBB(ABB)
Our GE wine chiller never turns off. The evaporator coil plate inside the chiller is covered in a thick layer of ice. When I turn the thermostat to "off" the unit does not power down--presently, it sits unplugged.
The problem with this chiller seems fairly specific, but I find very little t'shooting information here or other appliance repair forums. I suspect the thermostat is faulty; however, the cost for this part exceeds $250, which is untenable.
My first question is, how do I determine the EXACT cause of the problem I described.
My second question is, presuming the thermostat is faulty, rather than replacing this component, can it be repaired; and, if so, how does one go about the process?
My third question is, presuming the thermostat is faulty and cannot be repaired, is it reasonable to install the thermostat spec'd for a similar model wine chiller?
