  1. Hi. First time I've been to this site in a few years and things have changed. I know I have asked this "hollow ice" question in the past, but I can't pull up my oldest posts. I would have posted in the Kitchen Appliance section, but that is now a technician only forum. Maybe my old posts are still buried in there? In any case... I have an Amana bottom freezer that has served us relatively well for about 20 years now. The ice maker has been replaced a few times. A fan a time or two, and some other things too. It has been producing hollow ice for a couple/few months now. A couple days ago I replaced the ice maker unit. When I was replacing it I noticed the fill tube had a partial plug of ice. It worked fine for the first few ice loads and I'm again back to hollow ice. Squeezing the fill tube indicates it once again has a partial ice plug. I think when this happened the last time I had to replace the part that controls the water flow into the ice maker. I'm here because I don't recall what part I replaced, and I'm also not 100% sure this is the problem. This site has been an amazing resource over the years. Cheers, Gary
