    Maytag MAH3000AWW

I have a Maytag Neptune MAH3000 that is about 18yrs old. Today it would not go into the high-speed spin. I left the door open and pushed the door closed switch, rotated to spin and turned on the machine. It does spin C-CW-C etc but does not spin fast. Searching around Google I've been seeing things like motors, control boards, wax motor who's to know which is why I'm here. So, I also lifted the top to gain access to see the wax motor to test the micro-switch. Once again while pressing the closed door switch I turned on the cycle. Then I depressed the contact on the micro-switch on the right (which I understand is the door lock switch?) nothing happens. By that I mean the door lock light does not illuminate. I then tested the micro-switch (machine off) and it does close the circuit. What could be the issue or what should I try next. Thank you in advance.
