Ok bought a dead washer with a frozen drum. Easy enough to replace bearings, seal and tub seal. With all that done reassembled and plugged in set it on drain and spin (no water hooked up) press start then POOF! sparks and smoke from door latch assembly. Replaced with another SAME THING! Did the first short take out the control board? I did remove and inspect all looked good. Took control panel apart nothing there either. Traced all the wires from latch back to control board no cut wires or shorts.
