Returning guest presenter Aaron Wilson is back for another exciting discussion. This time, we'll be talking about...
The Science of CYA: How to Keep the Customer Safe, Document Your Work, and Not Get Sued
We take on a lot of liability as appliance repair techs, and that can get us into sticky situations whether we've done anything wrong or not. Aaron will be teaching us all about how to navigate this side of the trade.
We'll start by going over a tragic, real-world case study where a sloppy installation had lethal results, analyzing exactly how the installer's negligence caused this. From there, our scope will expand to what kind of safety precautions we should implement in our own work, both for the customer's sake and for our own.
But even if you do everything perfectly, there's still the famous "technician witch hunt." Well, we'll also talk about how to deal with that by thoroughly documenting your work and putting yourself beyond legal reproach.
A little about our guest, Aaron Wilson:
Aaron has been in the appliance repair trade for about 15 years, starting out by doing installations before moving on to bigger and better things. He worked for C&W Services as a Sub-Zero authorized servicer for a time and thereafter joined Mr. Appliance of Highland Park in the Dallas area, where he worked for years as the lead technician and field service manager. These days, he's making sure that all the appliances of everyone's favorite fried chicken place are in tip-top shape as the Quality and Performance Consultant for the southwest branch of Chick-fil-A. In addition, he has taught many classes on refrigeration repair and advanced diagnostics, during which time he also developed training material for the soft skills side of things, which he is delighted to share with you. On top of all that he's a certified graduate of the Master Samurai Tech Academy, so he knows his stuff!

ltcs20020 Fridge Not cooling, freezer works

My fridge is not cooling but the freezer is working. The fridge is brand new. We moved it to our garage while renovating our kitchen. I've checked to ensure the vents aren't being blocked. I tried to reset the temp but it does not work. I've unplugged and plugged it back in too. The temperature lights reset to something else after I set the temp. Please see attached pic where the two lights on the left disappear after I reset the temp.

Thank you in advance!

If the freezer is working and the vents are clear then it should be working unless it has an electronic damper that's stuck. What temp is the freezer at?

Take a full picture of the inside of the refrigerator compartment could be you have too much food blocking air circulation. You'd be surprised how food placement affects cooling. Normally it goes from top shelf to doors then everything else underneath top shelves. Too much food on top shelf and door shelves packed result in varying temperatures and possible freezing on top shelf.

I've unplugged it and plugged it back in. It seems like it is a little colder since the initial post.

Another poster spoke of the FF door sensor not always sensing door shut.  He taped a small magnet on the door to trigger it better.  Check by putting a cell phone inside with video running, shut the door.  Review the video to see that light goes out.  Or check the CON8 / GREY WIRES on PCB.

Also when switch doesn't work the evap fan won't spin enough to keep ice from the FZ to FF channel, so that may need to be steamed.

Headed out to one today, same symptoms, will be checking on this also.

UPDATE:

This ONE YEAR OLD fridge, the evaporator fan motor has failed!  These style motors are failing at an alarming rate.  It's the smaller type.  I am finding that they are failing at about the 1 year mark.   These are showing up in all newer LG's.  The Evap motor, Ice Fan AND the condenser motors are all failing and are made by various mfgs.  Only SOME of the models have the service bulletin (Fan shipped without lubricant) , but they are failing everywhere.  This is a photo of that evap motor and a  condenser fan I replaced last week.
