IDK if this can be answered here or not, but it is the only place I know to get an answer.

Hampton Bay ceiling fan, I bought 10+ years ago. Specs had the high speed somewhere just over 10,000RPM.....I chose this model just for that. A couple of months ago, I nolticed that the High speed setting wasn't doing fast RPMs. Bought a new(exact to the old) capacitor and installed it wire for wire. Fan worked fine for a few weeks, then the high speed was slow again...medium and low speeds were fine.

Changed out capacitor again, ran fine for about a week, and then the medium speed started spinning slow, about the same speed as the slow setting. High was fine.

Changed out the switch and a new capicitor thinking maybe the switch was being bad. Ran perfect for about a day and the medium speed is back to being as slow as the slow speed setting, fast is still spinning fast.

Am I getting bad capacitors or is the motor going bad in this fan? Anything else it could be? I'd rather not have to buy a new fan right now with prices being high for everything.

That has to be a typo.

There's no ceiling fan in the world that will rotate 166 times in 1 second.

In any case it's impossible to answer the question without knowing the model number and if the motor has multiple windings for different speeds or if it has an electronic speed control.

You are correct, it's a typo. I meant CFM airflow. Just found the listing again and it is 9750 CFM. I got the Hampton Bay incorrect also.

Here is the link at Home Depot - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Home-Decorators-Collection-Trentino-II-60-in-LED-Indoor-Outdoor-Natural-Iron-Ceiling-Fan-YG475-NI/300937629

Sorry about the confusion, it's been a hot very long day.

Are you sure you're buying run capacitors, not start capacitors?

I am buying the exact replacement. Doesn't say anywhere whether its run or start. Here is a link on Amazon with one for sale.

Check Lex Vance you tube channel he may have an answer for you. Not sure if it's the same brand but he has videos on ceiling fans but may have been a light flickering issue. He would know though and may respond.
