Dishwasher MIele G1230 SC - Plug Housing fried

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

Last night, I programmed the long Energy Save wash cycle. After about 10 minutes, I started to smell burning plastic, and after a minute, I heard a noise, like a loud tick. Then, after another minute, I heard the same noise again, and I saw smoke coming out. Obviously, I switched everything off and unplugged.

This morning, I disassembled the bottom of the dishwasher to get access to the motor etc. and I found the plug housing to the motor, both male and female, literally fried. See images below.

  • The first question is: What can cause this?

  • Second question: In the Miele website, I can only find the male housing connector, not the cables. I could cut the cables and use the existing spades with the new housing. Do you think this is feasible?

  • Third question: I have no idea how to fix the female connector to the motor, also because I cannot find a spare one in the Miele parts catalog.

Do you guys ever see this? If so, how to resolve it?

I appreciate your help!

Alex

Most likely a loose connection in one of the terminals.

Most manufactures this would be a motor and wire harness replacement.

Not on your style dishwasher, have seen it on other appliances.  As posted above the proper fix is a motor and wire harness.  Now if you want a work around you will need to find some insulated connectors and replace the damaged parts of the connector.

Than you Brian,

I was thinking to use insulted faston connector, and solder the wires, do you think they would be the right connectors to use in this case? If not, can you suggest any alternatives?

Thank you,

Alex

LOL, not sure why I wrote Brian, Vance, right? 😂

I think I found the cause of the problem.

That hole is very close to the connector; probably water got in under pressure, causing the short circuit.

I need a practical solution for that piece of rubber that serves as a connector.

Miele used to have the entire hose, but they no longer provide it, and in any case, it would be at an unreasonable price.

I'm not sure if this connector can be separated from the plastic hose. I've tried, but I can't seem to remove it. It has probably become one with the hose due to heat, or it might be a single piece made by Miele.

How can I replace it? A rubber hose from washing machines? Finding something of that diameter won't be easy.

Regarding the fastons (terminals), is it better to solder them or use pressure connectors?

Thank you!

If you have a soldering iron soldering the connections would be better.  if no iron the crimp connector are the next choice.  The sealant filled shrink tubing would help with moisture issues.

Thank you.

I will need a better solution for the rubber tubing, that piece of tube must be glued and it is almost impossible to remove.

Assuming I can remove it someway, I will need to find another piece that can resist high temperatures and that can be glued on plastic, permanently.

Hi All,

I had some spare faston type connectors at home, so I temporary used them to connect the four wires, and  tested the dishwasher for three days, everything worked perfectly.

So last night, I received new faston type connectors from Amazon, I soldered them and insulated them properly.

I set the dishwasher up again and turned it on, but much to my surprise, after 18 seconds, I got the F24 error.

I removed the relay, saw that the contacts were dirty, cleaned them perfectly, but to no avail, F24 is still there.

So I removed the relay again, measured it with a tester, following this procedure, and the relay works perfectly.

I also accessed the panel in 'service mode' and reset the error, but it didn't help.

Is it possible that the relay, somehow, even though it seems to be working fine, is damaged?

What else can I check before blindly buying a new one?

Now I'm stuck and don't know what to do, this really wasn't what I needed.

The only other thing I can think of that may have caused the problem is that when I reconnected the pump, in my haste, I swapped the blue wire with the brown one.

I don't know if this could have caused an electrical problem or not. The picture below shows the correct polarity I should have observed.

It seems so strange that such an error came up after I soldered the wires, unless it is really tough luck. :(

Again, any advice you can provide, it is much appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi All,

I did any kind of tests with the multimeter, but I cannot find anything wrong.

I also successfully completed all the component tests, no issues.

F24 is still there, no idea why...day 7 with the dishwasher in the middle of the kitchen...it is getting difficult.

Hopefully somebody can help.

Thank you,

Alex
