Shark HE-401 Air Purifier Not Powering On

I've got myself a Shark HE-401 Air Purifier that, when plugged in, the power light will blink once, and then there is no sign of life after. No lights, nothing. Remote doesn't work. Nothings work. I'm looking to self repair as the warranty is out. I would not like to buy a new one. As a person with not much experience in the appliance world, but other electronics, I'm not sure where I would first start to check. It's brand new, never been used, the person I bought it from did not bring it in for warranty during the time they had it. Any direction towards something I could check or test out would be awesome, thank you very much for the help.
