My Maytag Dryer Model MEDC300XW1 drum makes a short clatter on each revolution...like a shopping cart with a lump of bubble gum on the wheel. I am wondering if something is off track or something.

Sound's like your roller support's are wore down. You can order 279948 Dryer maintenance kit from a local supplier or searspartsdirect.com and it will come with new roller's , belt and pulley

Also maybe just coins tumbling around inside one of the drum baffles.
