Kitchenaid kdte254ess2 dishwasher not filling with water

Hi,

My Kitchenaid kdte254ess2 dishwasher will not fill with water. I replaced the water inlet valve but it still with not fill. When I ran diagnostics I get error code 6-4 which says it is the float switch. I tested the float switch and it has continuity. I did not replace the float switch and there is nothing blocking the function of the float float. I have good water pressure on the supply line.

When I manually poured water in the dishwasher and filled it above the heating element as a test, it ran and distributed water in the tub. It filled an upright mug in the top rack with water. It will drain the water I put in it. I do not think its the water pump or the circulation pump.

I think the problem is the control board but the machine is 6 years old and I don't want to order a control board and then have that not fix the problem.

Any idea what else might be the problem and what else I can try to fix this. I'd prefer not to buy a new dishwasher. Any help would be apprecieted.

Thank you.

Tony

Depends on what you're willing to spend. The control board part number is: W10866124. Looks like PartsDr has it for about $145.

Before you race to replace that, however, I would take a multimeter, place the leads at the terminals to the inlet valve, and see if you're getting voltage when the dishwasher calls for water. I would then check again for voltage at the board where it's sending it down. This should clarify whether the board is sending voltage but a wire is cut somewhere, or if it's not sending voltage at all.

It's not uncommon for the triacs in the board to short out and not send voltage when it should.
