Front screen had no lights but would illuminate only when a button was pressed. Looked on-line and found it was a common issue with a bad control board. Bought a new board and it would not come up with the programming mode PE 0000 on the front screen as said in the directions but would show flashing numbers. Left fridge on while looking on-line and when I came back all lights were no longer operating. Unplugged for 1/2 hour to try and reset and same result. Assumed I received a bad control board and obtained a new one and after installing got the same effect as the previous. I immediately unplugged to not damage the newest board. Took note of the numbers. Would flash:

Found a discussion on-line with someone who had a similar issue. The tech said to replace the front control board (dispenser control board) can someone verify this is likely my issue?

This site used to be my go-to to repair appliances. After zero responses I found the solution. I called Maytag and scheduled a technician to come out to fix the refrigerator as I was behind schedule for my workload and didn't have the time to give any more to this issue (that was not the solution). After seeing the supposed technician desperately searching his phone for the answer while saying I think I have to replace the front control board, I asked him to step aside because I saw him continuous pass by the Sabath setting on the fridge. I asked him three times to go back and disable that setting because it shuts off most of the fridge functions which he ignored me because he is the expert so when I disabled that function everything began to work to his big surprise. I guess it was partly a collaborative of efforts between the both of us but I would say he should have known this being the expert. In closing, if you have a fridge like this that has all the front lights out but when you press any button and it lights up while the button is being pressed then the back main board MIGHT be bad but you may not have to program the board as said in the replacement directions or on some Youtubes' as it may already be setup on the board but make sure you turn off the Sabath mode and make sure it is not in Demo Mode. $150.00 lesson learned well, now I go back to work.
